Down on the Farm

Working with Sim Building Group Ltd. on behalf of Loretto Housing Association, our project at Cobblebrae Farm in Falkirk has received Planning Permission.  We are working with NBM Construction Cost Consultants and David R Murray Engineers to provide 21 new affordable dwellings in a mix of two and three bed family houses and two-bed flats, replacing a group of former farm buildings adjacent to Carron Valley Community Woodland.  Set within an established residential area, the development adopts the principles of Designing Streets to create a distinctive sense of place for residents, with parking grouped into larger courts to remove cars from other areas of the site.  A varied landscaping strategy is employed across the site to add character and interest to the streetscape.

The new blocks adopt a textured masonry finish, with a simple, structured approach to fenestration used to create a consistent visual impression throughout.  A mixture of two and three storey forms creates a variety of scales which integrate with the existing housing surrounding the site.

Planning Approval is an important milestone for the project and we look forward to developing the scheme further with our design team partners in the months to come, providing much needed new warm and healthy homes.
