Introduction

Thank you for taking the time to visit our consultation page in respect of the new-build affordable housing development at the site on Vallay Street, Milton.

The proposed development will be delivered by Wheatley Homes Glasgow, with the project being designed by MAST Architects, G3 Consulting Engineers, and MBLA Design.

This online consultation forms part of the Proposal of Application Notice (PAN) which is currently being undertaken to provide information on the potential development. We are eager to obtain your feedback on the proposed development and all comments and feedback will be reviewed and taken into consideration in the development of the proposals prior to a formal Planning Application being lodged with Glasgow City Council.

Project Information

Wheatley Homes Glasgow propose to develop the site to the South of Scaraway Street and West of Vallay Street, to provide 72 new build homes, comprising 2-to-4-bedroom houses, and 1-to-2-bedroom cottage flats for affordable rent. All blocks across the site are proposed as two-storey in keeping with the surrounding context.

Houses within key locations across the development, at corners and junctions, will have feature elevations to add to the variety in the streetscape.

Due to the existing topography on site – sloping towards the existing roads, the blocks are set back from the road line. As a result, in-curtilage parking is provided to the rear of all terraced blocks, with communal parking provided for the cottage flats.

Parking as noted above, will be provided in accordance with Glasgow planning policy and National Roads Development Guidelines. Proposed new roads will be constructed to an adoptable standard consisting of a 5.5m wide roadway with 2m wide footpath either side.

Each house will have a semi-private front garden and private rear garden. Flats will be provided with a communal private garden designed in accordance with Glasgow planning policy providing amenity space to the residents. The communal landscape spaces throughout the development will be designed to enhance the local biodiversity providing natural habitat for local wildlife.

To ensure connectivity through the site, a pedestrian route is proposed from the new proposed HUB to the existing Milton Park, facilitating the use of existing amenities.

In addition to the proposals for Vallay Street, an indicative layout has been shown for the adjacent Stornoway Street site, highlighting the potential future development.

Where are we now?

A Proposal of Application Notice (PoAN) associated with the development was submitted to Glasgow City Council in August 2024.

This project website forms part of the 12-week pre-application period and the first of two public consultation events. It is designed to provide information on the emerging proposals, to explain and answer questions on the proposals, and to record comments and feedback in order to ensure these may be considered prior to the planning application being lodged with Glasgow City Council.

In addition to this online consultation the following consultation events will also be undertaken;

Consultation Event 01

  • An in-person consultation event will be hosted on Wednesday 18th September from 4pm-7pm at Glasgow Club Milton, Liddesdale Road, Glasgow, G22 7QR

Consultation Event 02
