Dumbarton Road delivers 48 new homes for Link Group on a former industrial site in Old Kilpatrick, with expansive views across the Forth & Clyde Canal and River Clyde.

Two six-storey blocks are positioned along the street frontage to make the most of these views while responding carefully to the site’s steep topography. This compact approach minimises intervention in the landscape and allows the mature woodland to the rear to be retained, creating a natural backdrop to the development and helping soften its relationship with neighbouring homes.

At the heart of the site, a landscaped communal space brings the two buildings together. A mix of planting, hard landscaping and informal play creates opportunities for residents to meet and spend time outdoors, with strong overlooking from surrounding homes supporting a safe and welcoming environment.

The development provides a mix of one and two-bedroom homes, including four designed specifically for wheelchair users. Flexible internal layouts have been developed to meet a range of needs and support comfortable, accessible living.

A restrained palette of brick and metal cladding gives the buildings a simple, contemporary character, with metal detailing used to articulate entrances and prominent elevations. Juliet balconies extend the living spaces towards the landscape, allowing every home to connect with views across the canal and river.
