We have recently submitted a planning application for a new community facility in Ardrossan on behalf of the Ardrossan Community Development Trust.

An existing public toilet block on the South Beach promenade will be replaced by a new ‘Hub On The Prom’ which consists of a café, public toilets and kiosk for beach hire provision. The development will also include a series of colourful ‘beach huts’ which can be rented out for a variety of uses.

The new block is designed to make best use of its outlook across the Firth of Clyde, incorporating extensive glazing on its main elevation, with an overhanging canopy to provide an element of shading and enclosure. The material palette suggests a notional ‘beachfront’ language, adopting robust and low-maintenance cladding to address the ever changing Scottish weather!
