The most hotly contested event of the MAST social calendar came to a head this week, with the final of our annual Great MAST BakeOff competition. Not even faulty cookers, accusations of sabotage or the old fashioned ‘I ran out of time!’ excuse could stop this year’s instalment from being one of the best yet!
Although a packed field led to some excellent bakes over the course of the competition, four heats led to a final showdown contested by James Bilsland, Aden Paterson, James Stirling and Rebecca Weir, who took up the challenge of preparing an architectural showstopper.
As usual, no stop was left pulled out when it came to these final entries, and after a tense period of vote counting, Rebecca Weir was crowned as our 2019 champ, with her winning entry of the Stirling Prize nominated Macallan Distillery – a chocolate brownie with Macallan whisky and salted caramel crumb!
The BakeOff is part of our annual charity activities, with our charity partner this year being Revive MS Support – thanks to all who took part and donated, and congratulations again to Rebecca on her win!
