The Glasgow Art Club is designated as an A Listed Building with The Gallery to the rear of the building designed by a young Charles Rennie Mackintosh. The building has seen many changes over the years from gallery extensions to decorative additions that continued to establish the building as a significant national landmark.

MAST was originally appointed by The Glasgow Art Club in 2006 to carry out an extensive study of the property. This task included structural and services, an access audit, examination of statutory requirements, a repair survey and a detailed conservation assessment. All were intended to outline current performance and cite opportunities for future development. Refurbishment works to the property including the Gallery was carried out in two phases and was completed in 2015.
