Riverford Gardens

Riverford Gardens is nestled in a meander of the White Cart Water on Glasgow’s south side, with a sweeping river aspect on three sides, adjacent to Auldhouse Park.

When complete, the development will provide a total of 156 units for private sale, in a variety of bespoke house types including flats, semi-detached homes and terraced villas.  Each variant is designed to take advantage of the site’s unique location to maximise views and amenity, as well as incorporating features such as open plan living arrangements, flexible family spaces, contemporary bedroom suites and high levels of storage.

As part of a landscape led approach, the principles of the site layout are focussed on creating a sense of place.  Blocks are arranged to benefit from views over the existing river and adjacent park, augmented by a variety of new communal areas within the development.  These public spaces provide amenity for residents of all ages, incorporating informal play features, outdoor games, and riverside viewpoints.  The new street network is defined by structured tree planting and soft landscaping areas, whilst feature planting and walling combines to establish a ‘grand entrance’ to the development.

A minimal masonry palette is deployed across the site to create a robust an unified aesthetic.  This simple base is manipulated in various ways, utilising tonal shifts and varied detailing treatments across the development’s different block types.  This approach contributes to the site’s overall character and boosts visual interest within the development.
