Alterations to Category B Listed former Stable Block
This former Stable Block, previously converted by MAST Architects in 1999, had provided conference facilities for Erskine Hospital before being repurposed in 2018 as a Veterans Activity Centre.
In order to meet these new needs, MAST worked in consultation with the client and local authority to repurpose four former carriage houses into bespoke facilities for arts, crafts and fitness.
Our intervention maintained the buildings characteristic courtyard form, but introduced a linking corridor to allow full accessibility to all spaces. The new rooms preserve the historic character of the carriage rooms, with all new services including heating and ventilation equipment concealed in roofspaces above
