Project Completion – Langlands Road

Our latest project at Langlands Road in Govan was officially opened last week by the leader of Glasgow City Council, Susan Aitken.  The project, delivered by CCG (Scotland) Ltd on behalf of Trust Housing Association, provides 46 new homes for affordable rent, aimed at an ‘amenity’ resident profile which enhances accessibility through a range of specification and design features.  Each new home has been designed in accordance with the Glasgow Standard, incorporating a ‘Gold Hybrid’ approach which achieves Section 7 Gold Aspect 1 and Silver Aspects 2 – 8.

The new accommodation is grouped within two six storey blocks, their height subject to careful consideration alongside the existing tenements nearby.  Given the site’s location in the centre of Govan, parking is minimised to facilitate high quality amenity and sensitive landscaping which is appropriate for its busy urban context, the amenity offering enhanced through the provision of both Juliet and projecting balcony features throughout.  The two new blocks provide definition to this awkward triangular site, reinforcing the grain of Govan’s local centre, with new pedestrian routes created between Golspie Street and Langlands Road itself.

We are delighted to see the completion of this important project in the face of the current housing emergency, a testament to the hard work of all involved dating back to our first sketches in 2018, and are particularly proud to continue our historic involvement in Govan which dates back to the practice’s earliest work in the late 1970s.
