Introduction

Thank you for taking the time to visit our consultation page in respect of the new-build affordable housing development at Kilmarnock Road, Mauchline.

The proposed development will be delivered on behalf of East Ayrshire Council by their contractor partners CCG (Scotland) Ltd, with the project being designed by MAST Architects, Indev Consult Ltd. Engineers, and MBLA Design (Landscape Architects).

We are keen to obtain your feedback on the proposed development ahead of a formal application for Planning Permission.

Project Information

The proposed development will deliver a new assisted living development for East Ayrshire Council and the local Health and Social Care Partnership, on a site formerly occupied by a games hall and community centre at Kilmarnock Road in Mauchline.

Accommodation within the development comprises a two-storey block containing staff facilities and 13 assisted living flats, of which six are designed specifically for wheelchair users, together with a further three wheelchair accessible bungalows.  The house mix has been developed in conjunction with East Ayrshire Council and the Health and Social Care Partnership to satisfy local housing demand.

Amenity space and green infrastructure is an important aspect of the proposals, with a soft landscaped buffer created along Kilmarnock Road to provide privacy and extra security to the street frontage, whilst a secure garden for residents is created to the interior of the communal assisted living block.  Private gardens, sized in accordance with local authority requirements, are provided to each of the bungalows.  To help the development embed itself into the surrounding townscape, a number of mature trees are also retained along the eastern boundary.

Parking for staff and residents is provided within a new court accessed from Kilmarnock Road.
