Our project for a new sustainability training centre for West Lothian College, has recently completed on site!
The ECOHOUSE provides a unique state-of-the-art training facility that will support students in the development of the necessary skills, knowledge and practical experience in sustainable construction and technologies. The project will aim to help upskill students to meet the evolving needs of the construction sector, as we work towards achieving Net Zero by 2045.
The ECOHOUSE project comprises two semi-detached homes which have been completed to two different levels of finish. The first house forms a finished home, which has been completed to the Scottish Building Standards ‘Platinum’ level, with certified air tightness and thermal properties. This home, designed to support adaptable, independent living, will be monitored by the college to gain an understanding how its renewable technologies and sustainable construction methods perform in a real-life setting. The second house has been constructed as a shell, with key internal and external construction elements left exposed for learning purposes. The shell unit will support the development of key practical skills, knowledge and experience in sustainable construction.
