Anderston Regeneration Masterplan

Client:

Sanctuary Scotland Housing Association

Location: Glasgow

Project value: £50m

Completion Date: n/a

MAST, in partnership with DTZ Pieda, undertook an options appraisal study of 495 Scottish homes in Anderston, Glasgow. This study saw Sanctuary Scotland Housing Association successfully appointed as preferred alternative landlord to these multi-storey concrete buildings.

Some of the projects key design features included;

  • reinstatement of the historic street pattern,
  • lifts in all blocks,
  • integrated public art,
  • feature lighting with high quality streetscaping and public spaces.

These progressive features combated the poorly insulated and noise transmission problems of the 1960s construction. With a focus on defining and creating safe and secure public and private spaces, this project aimed to marry highly functional architecture with community-centred spaces. Our involvement over 10 years has seen the master planning shape this key regeneration project, and ensured all that collaborate on the project adopt the ethos of ‘learning from the past but looking to the future’.
